Welcome
You are visiting STINAPA Bonaire’s online nature fee portal.
Stichting Nationale Parken Bonaire (STINAPA) was founded in 1962. STINAPA is the organization that manages Bonaire’s nature parks on behalf of the Bonairian government.
Something unique about Bonaire’s nature parks is that they are managed and maintained almost completely with funding and support from its visitors. Therefore, your contribution really makes a difference as it enables us to protect Bonaire’s valuable and vulnerable nature parks. The parks managed by STINAPA are:
Bonaire National Marine Park
Founded in 1979 and covering all the waters surrounding Bonaire and Klein Bonaire, from the high-tide mark to 60 meters (200 feet) of depth. This is an area of about 27 km² (6672 acres).
It hosts a variety of ecosystems such as its renowned coral reefs, mangroves and seagrass beds and it includes the area’s of Lac and Klein Bonaire. It is a multi-use Marine Protected Area as anybody is welcome to enter the waters and a wide array of activities are provided such as scuba diving, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking and lots more.
Washington Slagbaai Park
Founded in 1969 and positioned in the northern part of the island is covering 17% of the islands terrestrial surface. At its entrance you can visit our museum on the natural history of Bonaire. The park is accessible to off road vehicles as its 50 km of roads are unpaved. It hosts several Salina’s (wetlands) where flamingo’s can be seen foraging. We mapped two trails that can be hiked in the mornings. We regularly offer guided tours and it is also possible to rent one of the houses in Slagbaai to overnight in the park.
